A Sunflower for Mary

Mary, a wonderful woman who is part of my Sew-N-Sews quilting group, retired from her job with the Kansas SRS offices this month. Her work contacted our club and commissioned a quilt for Mary’s retirement. Sherry, another wonderful woman in this group, and I put this quilt together for Mary.

I chose the fabrics, pieced the top, and appliqued the sunflower and text. Sherry did the quilting and binding. Here are more close-ups of our work!

Somehow, we didn’t get a photo of Mary actually holding the quilt! Same on us… but she LOVED it!

Quilt stats: 28″ x 30″ (large wall hanging)

Batik fabrics from Harper’s Fabric Shoppe. The text and binding are this awesome metallic fabric! It really shines in person. My photography is sucky… I’ll try to get a better shot when Mary shows it to our quilt group later this month.
